School Expectations and Policies:
- Here at Calcium Primary we are like a family. We have the same expectations for all students: (The three R's)
- Be Responsible
- Be Respectful
- Be Ready to Learn
- Physical Education requires that students come prepared to class with SNEAKERS that TIE. This is for safety. The fashionable sneakers, boat shoes or flats, do not have enough support on the foot for the many rigorous activities we do in class. The sneaker must tie, this ensures that the sneaker will stay on the students feet as they run, jump, and make quick turns.
- Snow boots, hiking boots are fine to wear to school, especially during those winter months or rainy days, however, it is not very healthy to wear those types of boots all day. Feet need to breathe, so having an extra pair of sneakers that are kept at school would be a great idea.
- Learning to tie shoes. The following is a video that helps students learn to tie their shoes. This simple skill is very empowering to the students sense of independence.
- Medical Issues-
- Students who may get hurt in class are asked to report that to the teacher so we can make sure he/she gets the care that is needed.
- If your student is sick or has been injured outside of school, please send in a doctors note with what they are ABLE to do. We can modify what we are doing in class to accommodate for this. Students do not typically want to sit out of class, so we can keep them active by modifying the activity.
- Schedules: Physical Education classes meet on a six day cycle, which just means that your child will have PE every other day: either every ACE day, or every BDF day. If we have a school cancellation, the day will move to the next day upon returning to school. For example- we have a snow day on a "B" day of school. The day students come back from the snow day will be the "B" day that was missed.
- Contact: Please do not hesitate to contact us here at school if you ever have a question. Email is the best way, but please give us a day to get back to you with a response. We will also make every effort to keep in contact with you if we have concerns or even just to celebrate a great day your child had.
