Units of Study

Tech Toolbox - During this unit students will learn the essential technology skills necessary to build a foundation to be efficient and productive.

Digital Communication - During this unit students will effectively and appropriately use a variety of electronic communication and presentation tools to communicate an appropriate message to an audience.

AI and Our World - We will be exploring the new world of AI and how it impacts us as a society. We will explore the pros and cons and consider the ethicial implications of the tools at our disposal.

Data Analysis and Spreadsheets- During this unit, students will become familiar with Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel.  They will learn about data collection and the functions within the program, including how to created graphs to represent the data. 

Problem Solving / Coding - During this unit students will use code.org to learn / demonstrate the steps to problem solve. Block programming is also taught as a way to further the understanding of problem solving and as a way to introduce coding.

Keyboarding – Embedded within the course, students will be working on keyboarding skills. Although introductions to keys and some practice will occur in class, students will be expected to practice at home. Students will use the following website which will allow teachers to see the amount of time they practice and their skills. https://www.typing.com/ 

Units of Study

Advanced Digital Communication: Students communicate clearly and express themselves creatively for a variety of purposes using the platforms, tools, styles, formats and digital media appropriate to their goals; Students use a variety of technologies within a design process to identify and solve problems or communicate a purpose by creating new, useful or imaginative solutions.

Multi-Media- Adobe express and photoshop will be explored in this unit. Students will engage in projects that will integrate these skills into their learning. 

AI and You: Students will explore how AI is changing our world, and the implications of it on future jobs.  We will examine bias in AI tools and look for ethical considerations with products currently available.

Web Design: HTML and CSS as a form of expression; debugging, creation of a personal website.

Working with Data and Algorithms: Students will utilize spreadsheet and graphing software to organize numerical data and synthesize the information. Students will also use spreadsheet tools to display information in a meaningful way.
