The students of Multi Media and Mass Communication Department of Indraprastha College for women visited the National Gallery of Modern Art on Thursday, 10th November 2022, as a part of an academic visit under the guidance of two faculty members Dr. Aahana B. Chopra and Ms. Tanushree. The students assembled at the museum gate at 10:30 am and entered together to visit the places inside. The objective of the visit was directed toward learning visual images and art.

The National Gallery of Modern Art showcased a large number of stellar paintings, drawings, sculptures, prints, photographs, and installations. NGMA has a massive and impressive representation of the evolution of modern Indian art. The students received a wonderful opportunity to view the works of about 2000 artists from India and abroad. The students were formed into two divisions and walked through the galleries of two major building sections, Jaipur House and a new wing inaugurated in 2009. Jaipur House was a formal residential palace of Maharaja of Jaipur, hence known by this name. The galleries in Jaipur House has paintings by notable artists such as Raja Ravi Varma, Rabindranath Tagore, Avanindranath Tagore, Gaganendranath Tagore, Jamini Roy, Nandlal Bose, Ramkinkar Baij, Amrita Shergill and various other artists. The students found themselves in a hall decorated with rare pictures and paintings by these artists. The students were amazed to see the unique and artistic journey of these great artists of the time. The multi-floor new wing building has a series of distinct art pieces located in close proximity that attracted the students.

The students were also shown a short video visualising these famous artists' artwork using advanced multimedia technology. The museum offered enhanced knowledge on paintings, drawings, sculptures, prints, photographs and installations to students. The visit left a deep imprint. On the whole it was an absolutely amazing, enriching learning experience for the students.
