LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! 2025
New Delhi: Lights, Camera, Action! 2025, hosted by the Department of Multimedia and Mass Communication at Indraprastha College for Women, took place on March 25-26, bringing together students, faculty and media professionals for two days of discussions, competitions and screenings. The festival provided a platform for participants to engage with industry experts, showcase their creativity and explore different facets of media and communication. More than 100 undergraduate students from colleges across Delhi took part, making the event a standout highlight. The festival opened with the ribbon-cutting of Frame Politik, a photography exhibition. This was followed by Meet the Media, where journalists, Peenaz Tyagi, Executive Editor at India TV, Preeti Singh, Anchor at Sansad TV, and Kunal Wahi, Assistant Executive Producer at TV9, discussed the evolving media landscape and the impact of artificial intelligence on journalism They also emphasized the importance of ethical reporting. The interactive session allowed students to ask questions and gain insights into the industry.
The Podcast Face-Off challenged participants to create impromptu podcasts on topics such as Bollywood biopics, K-dramas and celebrity PR strategies. Judged by faculty members, the competition tested storytelling and adaptability, highlighting the growing influence of podcasting as a medium. Later, Character Reenactment saw students bring iconic figures to life through costume and performance, celebrating theatrical expression. The event wrapped up the first day on a lively note, leaving the audience entertained and inspired by the passion and energy on display.
On the second day, Ad Mad encouraged participants to develop creative advertisements under time constraints, testing their ability to craft persuasive messaging. The festival also featured a screening of Kaagaz 2, followed by a discussion with screenwriter Ankur Suman on storytelling and the challenges of scriptwriting. The Top 6 Film Entries were also screened, showcasing student filmmaking talent. The festival culminated in a valedictory ceremony honoring competition winners, the editorial team of the department’s magazine, Mise-en-Scène, and the organizing committee. The Principal of the College, Prof. Poonam Kumria commended the students’ dedication and creativity.
The event ended on a celebratory note with a surprise dance performance by Nrityangana, College western dance society followed by a cake-cutting ceremony. This marked the official conclusion of Lights, Camera, Action! 2025, a celebration of storytelling, collaboration and innovation that left participants inspired, engaged and eager for future opportunities.
