The India International Centre in New Delhi was bustling with energy on the occasion of World Radio Day, as the 6th edition of The Radio Festival: The Wave Forward kicked off on February 13, 2023. The festival was organized in partnership with UNESCO and supported by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prasar Bharti, UNICEF, and CEMCA. The India International Centre (IIC) played host to the 6th Edition of 'The Radio Festival: The Wave Forward' on Feb 13, 2023. The event was organized on the occasion of World Radio Day, celebrated every year on Feb 13, to highlight the importance of radio in the modern world.
The festival, a unique platform that celebrates the power of audio through discussions, conversations, and entertaining performances, focused on themes such as climate change, gender equality, and sustainable solutions, in line with India's agenda at G20 - "One Earth, One Family, One Future- Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam!" With India assuming the presidency of the G20, the festival was designed to provide a space for radio and podcasters to come together and explore the power of audio in creating meaningful social change.
The first day of the festival saw an array of panel discussions and conversations that brought together experts from various fields to discuss the role of radio in promoting sustainable solutions and creating awareness about critical issues such as climate change, gender equality, and social justice. The festival provided an opportunity for all three tiers of radio, as well as podcasters, to showcase their work and explore the potential of audio in creating positive social change.
The festival focused on themes such as climate change, gender equality, and sustainable solutions among others, in line with India’s agenda at G20- One Earth, One Family, One Future- Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam! The event saw the participation of experts from the radio industry, policymakers, government officials, and international organizations.
The Radio Festival (TRF) is a unique platform that brings together all three tiers of radio as well as podcasters on one stage. The first day of the festival was filled with engaging conversations and insightful discussions. The event saw the participation of eminent personalities such as Manisha Pande, Director of Programmes, All India Radio, Karan Thapar, journalist and author, Shubha Mudgal, singer and composer, and many more. The sessions revolved around the importance of radio in today’s world, the challenges faced by the industry, and the way forward. Today TRF is a unique platform that brings together all three tiers of radio as well as podcasters on one stage.
The festival concluded on a positive note, with the participants emphasizing the importance of radio in spreading awareness and bringing about social change. The event was a great success and showcased the power of radio as a medium of communication and entertainment.
Students accompanied by the faculty of the MMMC Department took the best out of the opportunity to attend the Radio Festival.
