Workshop on “What Radio teaches you about life?”

The department of Multi Media And Mass Communication on 17 October 2020, organised an enthusiastic, interactive and interesting online workshop on, 'What Radio Teaches You About Life?'. The guest speaker for the session was Mr Rohit Varghese who had previously worked as a radio jockey, voice over artist, an anchor and currently hosts the morning show for Ishq 104.8 FM in Mumbai. He commenced the workshop with a self-composed song that uplifted every one's mood and which also sarcastically questioned the various ongoing political events. He again and again emphasised on questioning the authority and exercise the right to freedom of speech. He recounted instances where amidst the decline in the number of radio listening audience there exists a sphere of audience who still love to listen to radio.
Students had many questions regarding the life of a radio jockey and about how to start a career in radio industry and he answered them eloquently by telling his own experience as a budding R.J. when he first started his job. He also reflected light upon the things that have changed for Radio industry today. How celebrity appearances as a R.J. have affected their jobs and how people ask them to make videos in addition to speaking in the radio stations.
Throughout the workshop he encouraged the students to explore various fields of their interest and live life to its fullest. His self-composed songs were rejuvenating and fun. He ended the workshop with a similar song while everyone enjoyed and applauded him.
