Workshop on Hindi Language and Hindi Cinema

A workshop was conducted for the students of BMMMC by Mr Manish Gupta, a poet and filmmaker. He discussed Hindi as a language and medium of expression of emotions like love, affection, desire and patriotism. He narrated his experience of making feature films and producing TV shows and the difficulties he faced during the process. He also spoke about his idea of blending poetry into a visual form of filmmaking and eventually single-handedly reviving people’s love for Indian poetry, mainly in Hindi and Urdu through his YouTube channels. He stressed upon the need of getting out of one’s comfort zone. A few of his selected works were screened for the students and then he discussed the nuances of camera shots, movements and perspectives through them. This was followed by an interactive session in which he answered the queries of the students and motivated them to out their favourite poetry pieces into visuals.
