The Department of Multi-Media and Mass Communication organised an enlightening online workshop on “Learnings from Building a New Age Bottom-Up Media Company”.
The guest speaker for the session was Mr Anshul Tewari who is a social entrepreneur and the Founder of Youth Ki Awaaz (YKA) which is India’s largest platform for young people to speak up, take action and create an impact.
He has worked across media, citizen advocacy and has also served as a Director on the Board of Jhatkaa, a campaigning organisation committed to building grassroots citizen power across India, and Collectively, a World Economic Forum & Unilever non-profit with a focus on sustainability.
Mr Anshul is an Ashoka Fellow for social entrepreneurship and was named a Young Innovator by the United Nations ITU in 2012. He has also named a Forbes 30 Under 30 media influencer in 2018.
The session on “Learnings from Building a New Age Bottom-Up Media Company” was taken by Mr Anshul Tewari which started with a discussion about his journey on starting Youth Ki Awaaz (YKA) when he was preparing for his 12th board exams. His organisation started the Writers Training Program, funded more than 200 social entrepreneurs working to solve the problem of access to education for girls across India and improvement in tools of hygiene for menstruation across India.
Mr Anshul also talked about the authentication of the news, the revenue model which they follow, how to find an audience for particular content and how to generate revenue out of it.
The entire session was really interesting and easily understandable because of many intriguing stories and personal interactions with the audience.
