Pia Åström - Stockholm, Sweden
After 15 years in Boston, we returned to my native Stockholm last fall. I previously lived and worked in the Netherlands and we spend most of our holidays in France. Although we’ve visited Sweden every summer I haven’t experienced Swedish spring or fall in many years and I’m truly appreciating the beauty of it! In my 'me' time I play tennis. Family time is traveling, boating and skiing.
Katherine Salisbury - New York , USA
I officially moved to Stockholm in 2013 from New York City but was here a lot before that running a soccer agency. My husband, George, is originally from Stockholm and we settled here to start a financial tech company. We have four daughters. Eliza is heading off to 6th grade at Norra Latin next year. Julia will start 2nd grade in the fall. Margo will enter kindergarten and Diana will be in EY. My favorite things to do are: read a good book, cook and entertain, watch a great film, travel and ski. I recently picked up golf and love it!
Eva Pentti-Kortman - Helsinki, Finland
I’m born and raised in Helsinki, Finland. Besides a shorter stay in India, Stockholm is our first international move as a family. I’m a Swedish-speaking Finn, so the move here was easy and after 10 years in Stockholm, this is where home is. I have two daughters, Amelie in 6th grade and Isabel in 8th grade.
I enjoy the cultural scene in Stockholm, with amazing museums and theaters, and the fabulous variety of restaurants. On my days off, I love to walk our dog along the shores of Djurgården.
Emma Lemon Pickett - Stockholm, Sweden
I am a native Swede, born and raised in the very northern part of Sweden. After studying in Ireland, I settled down here in Stockholm. My family and I lived in Luxembourg for five years and moved back here in 2021, where we chose to keep them in the IB programme at SIS. Eddie is in grade 12 and Esther is in grade 10. What I appreciate the most about living here is the closeness to water, all the amazing breakfast places and I love to bake, so of course Swedish fika!
Jessica Sjöbring - United States
Originally from the east coast of the US, I moved to Stockholm for the second time in 2023 after living in New York, Michigan and Switzerland. My Swedish husband and I have two children - Axel, in Grade 5 at SIS, and Alma, at school in Switzerland. With a background in marketing, communications and design, I enjoy staying connected with my kids, walking our dog Rooster, and painting.
Swarnamali Galmangodage - Viterbo, Italy
I was born and raised in Italy. My parents come from Sri Lanka. I lived 10 years in London. My family and I moved to Stockholm in February 2020. I have 2 children, Anastasia in grade 2 and Diana in kindergarten. Favourite things to do in Sweden include ice skating, hiking and yoga. I love being surrounded by nature and interesting people.
Gary Warnes - UK
I am originally from the UK, but was lucky enough to live abroad most of my life. My wife Jenny and I recently moved back to Stockholm ( her homeland) after 22 years in San Fransisco. We have two daughters, Viktoria (just graduated) and Emilia in Grade 9. I was the Grade 8 Class parent representative last year and I am looking forward to working with parents and the board as Secretary. As a family we love to travel, ski, play padel and take walks with our dog Stella.
