Stockholm Women's International Jazz Festival
This event is dedicated to artists from Iran and Afghanistan - female jazz musicians representing all female voices in their original countries, now silenced by laws but fighting to be heard. The evening ends with "Bridges", a new part of the festival that aims to create collaborations between Swedish and international artists, promote dialogue and build networks.
The evening begins with the Iranian ethnomusicologist and filmmaker Yalda Yazdani, from the University of Siegen, Germany, who will give a short talk and show some videos from her film projects "Female voices of Iran" and "Female voices of Afghanistan".
Semente is proud to collaborate with Shamsia Hassani, the first female graffiti artist in Afghanistan, who created the artwork for our official poster. A young Afghan woman emerging from clear water holding a piano keyboard shaped like wings. A powerful image like all of Shamsia's outstanding works of art. It depicts the grief and desperation of Afghan women under the Taliban dictatorship, but also carries a glimmer of hope for change that sooner or later must come. A limited edition, signed by the artist, will be on sale this evening. The money from the sale goes to the work of supporting women's rights in these countries.

Asian Film Festival
AFF is 5 years old and we are celebrating with a special program of classics! For this edition, all our eyes are on Mongolia! After going through a difficult period in the 1990s, Mongolian cinema has seen sensational new voices emerge over the last decade, resulting in a wider recognition of its talents but also many exciting developments, such as the recent creation of a National Film Council. It is also worth mentioning that for the first time in 2023, Mongolia was officially part of the selection of the prestigious Cannes and Venice film festivals.
The program includes four films which illustrate part of the variety and originality of Mongolian contemporary cinema, including a special evening dedicated to actor and director Amarsaikhan Baljinnyam, a key name in contemporary Mongolian film. We are also thrilled to present films from Bhutan, Malaysia, Nepal and Sri Lanka for the first time since AFF was created! 18 films are screening at this edition; we present some of the most fascinating contemporary films from Asia as well as classics which are still influencing today's cinema.
