In this project I explore one of the most beautiful and misterious natural fenomen on Earth: the auroras boreales, also know as the Northern Lights. This lights appear in the sky near the North Pole and it create magic colors that move in the night.
2. The Place of the Auroras
The Northern Lights happend near the North Pole. They appear because the sun send energy to the Earth and the magnetic field creates the colors in the sky. It is dificult to see them because you need dark, cold wheater and a clear sky. Many people travel very far just for see them. They are still “uncharted” because scientists don’t completly understand how the sun create the lights or why the colors change.
Humans explore the auroras because they are very beautiful and interesting. Scientist want to understand how they appear, how the sun affect the Earth and why the colors change. People are curious because the auroras are not normal lights, they look very special and they change the sky in a beautiful way. Exploring them also helps us learn more about solar energy, the magnetic field and the atmosphere.
To see the Northern Lights, you have to travel north. The journey is long and the temperatures are very cold. You have to go at night and sometimes wait for many hours. The place is dark and very alone.
The main risks are:
- The Northern Lights don't always appear
- Bad weather (snow, clouds, storms)
- Very low temperatures
- Long waiting times
- Difficult access to areas
Scientists use cameras and special equipment to study the Northern Lights, but the weather is a major problem.
In the future, scientist will be using better satelites to study the auroras from space. They will be observing how the sun send energy to the Earth in real time. By 2050, humanity will have discover more information about how solar storms afect our planet. We will have learn how to predict aurora activity better and how to protect tecnology from the problems of wheather.
I chose this topic because I think the auroras are very beautiful and mysterious. I like the colors and the idea that the sky can change. I wish one day I can travel and see them in real life.
The colors of the auroras depend of the gas in the atmosphere. Green is the most comun color, but sometimes you can see red, purple or blue.
To sum up, the Northern Lights are a natural mistery that humans still want to understand. With new tecnology we will learn more about them in the future. They remind us that the Earth still has many beautiful things to discover.
