1st year ESO students participating in the Global Scholars program participated in a video conference with students from Primary school number 103, in Warsaw (Poland). They presented the respective cities using presentations they had prepared in class, and explained how Christmas is celebrated in Tarragona and Warsaw. Then they went to the question turn where they interviewed each other about their traditions, their preferences in school, the sports they play, etc. They have discovered a very interesting culture and a different perspective than ours.
All in all, very enriching and very fun, note that we have already left to make another meeting during the second term.

Using the Educator Discussion Boards in the Teacher's Lounge, we participated in a New Year postcard exchange with Minsheng Junior High School, Taipei City (Taiwan), conducted by Gladys, the teacher. Students were very excited, so they wrote some cards including explanations and pictures or drawings about our culture and we sent them before Christmas holidays, so that they had them before their New Year celebration that this year is on January 22nd.
In January we received their cards, They sent us some elements special for them related to the celebrations for the New Year in Taipei: some red envelopes, posters, candies and rabbit pictures because this is the Year of the Rabbit for them. It was a great surprise!
To sum up, It was a very exciting and enriching experience for students.
Global Scholar students participated in a videochat with Taipei students. To prepare for the meeting, students wrote questions about school, daily life, traditions and use of water. We sent our questions to teacher Gladys, to Taipei and she sent their questions to us. When we received the questions, each student chose one and he was ready to explain the answer during the videochat.
During the videochat they were very nervous because they wanted to read the answers they had been working on and also they were curious about the answers to their questions.
The principal of Taipei school dedicated some kind words to us at the beginning of the meeting, and our principal Marta had also the opportunity to talk to the students and highlight the importance of these meetings to enrich our learning.
Students exchanged questions and answers, everybody learned about each other culture and had a great time.
Thank you very much and see you soon, Taipei students! 谢谢你,回头见

Our students are currently working on a special project called the "Culture Box," where they will have the opportunity to exchange cultural treasures with students from Seoul, South Korea.
The "Culture Box" is a fantastic initiative that allows our students to showcase their own culture and learn about the vibrant traditions of their peers in Seoul. Each student is carefully selecting and preparing items, such as traditional artifacts, local delicacies, music, and more, to represent their unique heritage.
Through this project, we aim to foster cultural understanding and appreciation among our students. It is an incredible chance for them to explore diverse cultures, embrace differences, and build meaningful connections with their counterparts in Seoul.
We cannot wait to see the excitement on our students' faces as they share their "Culture Boxes" and eagerly open the ones they receive from Seoul. This exchange promises to be an enriching experience, offering a glimpse into the beautiful tapestry of global cultures.
Do you remember our first videoconference? We are ending the course, so we wanted to say goodbye to our peers from Poland, ask them about their school year, their community project, their summer, etc.
Students wrote some questions about:
Global Scholars Community Action Project
End-of-course celebration at school
Customs, traditions, hobbies, etc in summer in their area.
The best part of the conference was how much we learned from each other. We shared our own experiences and listened to others. We realized that we are all connected, no matter where we come from.
As we say goodbye to this school year, we eagerly anticipate future opportunities to meet and continue our cultural exchange.
Wishing everyone a fantastic summer full of joy and new adventures!
We're excited to share that the Korean Culture Box has arrived at our school!
Inside the box, each student received a special postcard, personalized just for them. The beautifully designed postcards have connected us to Korea's vibrant culture. It also included delicious Korean sweets, we enjoyed the delightful experience. We also found traditional masks for painting, we watched some videos where we could see how they use these masks for traditional dance dramas or performances.
We want to express our heartfelt appreciation to the students and teacher sending the Box, it has reminded us of the incredible cultural diversity. We eagerly look forward to working with you again in the future.
Thank you for these wonderful gifts, and until we meet again, we wish you all the best!!
