Welcome back! We are thrilled to present the Year 4 curriculum newsletter for the second half of the Summer term, where you can explore the incredible learning opportunities that await your children during this upcoming period.
This half term in English, we will be reading 'The Girl Who Stole An Elephant' by Nizrana Farook. We will be using its exciting vocabulary and illustrious settings to create our own setting description.
In Maths, the children will finishing their year by looking at shape, statistics, position and direction. The class will then be consolidating their learning that they have done throughout the academic year.
In science, the children will be continuing to investigate 'living things and their habitats'. The children will be working scientifically by classifying, identifying and comparing different living things. They will also delve into researching an important scientist who studied living things.
This half term the children will be continue their research into the Tudor times. This half term, the children will put their focus towards Tudor life including William Shakespeare.
In Computing, year 4 will be looking at how to programme a robot. The children will be using Picho to speak and show emotions.
RE learning will focus on the religion of Buddhism. The class will be reading about important religious stories that Buddhists hold close to them.
This half term will see the children work on their athletic skills in PE. This will help them for their upcoming sports day.
This half term brings back our annual Arts Fortnight. This year our theme is 'The Olympics' and the class will be focusing on the sport, Ice Skating. The children will be inpsired by the artisit Damian Hurst by creating a kaleidoscope.
This half term the children will be answering the question 'How Does Music Shape Our Way Of Life?'
In French, the children will begin to understand and name French foods. They will practise how to order food in French using correct vocabulary.
In RHE, the children will be discussing how our bodies change as we grow up as well as looking towards our next school year.
