Royal Holloway and Bedford New College (RHUL)

RHUL has more than 30 years experience in milliKelvin cryogenics and superconducting quantum devices, and more than 13 years experience in nanofabrication, superconducting qubits and non-linear Josephson effects, including bifurcation amplifiers. RHUL is a world leading ultra-low temperature physics group with several dedicated superconducting quantum device measurement systems available, one of which will be available for this project. A new ≈ £6M ISO Class 5 nanofabrication facility is under construction, to be completed around the start of this project. The facility will house a world leading JEOL electron-beam lithography tool and form a dedicated and complete superconducting quantum device and qubit foundry with services available to this project.

RHUL’s primary input to the project will be in the design and fabrication of devices and < 100 mK rf characterisation, measurement and evaluation of devices operating in the quantum limit.
