For breakfast, Perúvians typically eat Arroz con Leche, which is rice mixed with milk.
Soup and salads are the typical lunch in Perú, but the more traditional lunch would be causa rellena. Causa rellena is made with mashed potatoes, avocados, and chicken or tuna. Causa rellena is often shaped into a cake-like object.
Dinner in Perú often correlates with Perúvian lunch food. For example, soup is also commonly served. Arroz con pollo is a traditional dish from Latin America, and it is made up of chicken, rice, and other vegetables and grains.
Traditional food in Perú is heavily based on the countrie´s natural resources. Perú is one of the most important countries for rice production, which is why many traditional Perúvian foods include rice. Perú also utilizes its crops, which results in many foods that are fruit/vegetable heavy. Chickens and other livestock have been used for food, too. Perú uses many of its resources for food.
Restaurants
Three popular restaurants in Perú, all located in Lima, include Astrid & Gaston, which specializes in French cuisine, La Mar Cevicheria, which is more sea-themed. Finally, there is Central, which is considered one of the best restaurants in the entire world!
Like America, some restaurants in Perú specialize in foreign cuisine. An example of this would be Vivio´s, a restaurant in Michigan that focuses on Italian food. Manners at restaurants are similar, but one major difference is that water is not typically served in Perúvian restaurants; and water is considered a necesity in American restaurants.
Like America, fast food is also prevalent in Perú. Both American and Perúvian food markets have evolved to keep up with the demand of quick and cheap food. Some common American fast food chains in Perú include KFC, Pizza Hut, and McDonalds. One of Perú´s local fast food establishments include Bembos, which was created in 1988. Bembos focuses on burgers with Perúvian influence.
Common Meal Times
Breakfast in Perú is served between 7:00 to 9:00 AM, while lunch is around 12:00 to 1:00 PM. Dinner is supplied at 7:00 PM or later. Perú and America both have lunch and breakfast around the same time, but dinner is served much later in Peru. American dinners are usually had around 4:00 to 5:00 PM.
