NATIVE TREES AND PLANTS WITHIN OUR HOME GROUNDS

OBJECTIVES : You should be able to :

            • Identify and name native trees and shrubs around your home.
            • Explain what is meant by the term native (indigenous).
            • Sketch the leaf structure and shape in detail.
            • Use the computer to obtain interesting and factual information about these trees.

ACTIVITIES : Things to do :

            • Walk around home grounds identifying trees and shrubs.
            • Sketch leaf structure and shape.
            • Pressing and displaying of leaves.
            • Research a native tree.
            • On a scale map of your home grounds show where shrubs and trees (native only) are located.
