Welcome to the Industrial Historical Record.
1949-2024 - 75 years of excellence!
In the summer of 1948, the Industrial Consolidated Independent School District was organized. It was formed through the merger of three districts - Vanderbilt, Lolita, and La Ward. Two more districts, Francitas and Inez, joined the district in December 1948. In September 1949, the new district held its first classes. The district dropped the word 'Consolidated' from its name and became known as the Industrial Independent School District in March 1961.
So much has changed in Cobra Country since 1949. Enrollment has grown from 819 students to 1160 students today. The graduating class of 1949 had 17 seniors and the 2024 class has 84.
While the world is a lot different, Industrial ISD remains a special and coveted place to be. Students, staff, and parents still focus on being an exemplary district, where "Because They Think They Can, They Will!" remains a focal point.
Here we hope to answer questions of Who, What, Where, When, and Why! Questions like: Why is there a bell on the field? Why do we play Patton? Where or What is Cobra HIll?
There will be pictures of the original schools, and what they have grown into now. There will be stories from past students and staff, and their fondest memories. Traditions and how they were started will hopefully be answered. There will be a place for reunion information, fun facts, and of course, our big 75th Anniversary Celebration.
We would like to thank Mr. Tony Williams for the startup of the Industrial Historical Record. Without him laying the groundwork, none of this would be possible. Thank You Mr. Williams!
The Historical Record will always be a work in progress. We'll be adding new information, new accomplishments, etc. as it occurs. Under the Featured Stories tab, we will have a link to a form you can fill out to submit your own special story. Please keep checking back for more updates.
It's a Great Day to be a Cobra!
