Hello! Welcome to the 2025-2026 School Year. My name is Lauren Salcer and I am the Preschool Coordinator as well as one of the Preschool Intervention Specialists (Ms. Lauren). This is my ninth year teaching at the Independence Primary School, as well as my 22nd year of teaching. I completed my bachelors at Ursuline College in early childhood education. In addition, I completed my master's degree in special education at the University of Michigan, and then returned to Ursuline College to complete my masters in educational administration. My husband and I live in Aurora with our children, Kristen and Gregory, and our puppy, Max. We enjoy spending time with our friends and families and traveling. As for me, I love the color green, going to Starbucks and shopping at Target!
I believe in creating a nurturing environment that supports and encourages children in the areas of physical, social, emotional, adaptive, aesthetic, intellectual and language development. I believe that every child is unique and learns in a different way. As the teacher, it is my job to help your child discover his/her individuality and encourage them to take ownership in their learning through hands-on experiences and exploration.
In order to ensure the success of students, one of the most important things that I believe in is creating a relationship between the school and community. As one of the most important and valuable people in your child's life, communication and creating a partnership in your child's learning is crucial. This year, we will be using a variety of methods for communication as well as creating opportunities for family involvement in the classroom.
