As Europe is caught in the grips of the Dark Ages, mystical monsters sweep the world. Monarchs, warriors, and clergy are all wiped out in the intial attacks, leaving the youth of the world to pick up the pieces.

A village in the Germanic realms, led by a brillaint but ultimately nihlisitc young dragon slayer, has a plan: brave the wilderness, maurading armies, and monsterous hordes to make it to Rome, a city that may hold to key to setting everything right. The dragon slayer leads the quest, while his wife has to defend their village from a mad conqueror who wants the world for himself.
