The Illinois Junior Academy of Science, or IJAS, is an organization that fosters the engagement of students in science. It provides students an opportunity to investigate and discover the endless subject of science. 

As students progress through a research investigation they will engage in the first dimension of the NGSS,  the Science and Engineering Practices. This dimension relates to the behaviors that scientists engage in as they investigate and build models and theories about the natural world and the key set of engineering practices that engineers use as they design and build models and systems.

This year Region 9 Exposition will be on Saturday, March 7, 2026, Paper Session at North Central College in Naperville in the School of Business and Entrepreneurship.

The Poster Session wll be held on Saturday, March 14, 206, at North Central College in the Wentz Scieece Center.

North Central College is located in Naperville.

Registration deadline will be early February 2026 with the date to be announced.
