Ms. Tannistha Haldar (Final year M.Sc.(Tech.) student) presented her masters’ thesis research work at the Indian Geophysical Union-2024 at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, India on December. Her work, entitled “Influence of heterogeneous thermal structure on the onset of convection in the presence of magnetic field at the Earth’s core”, was co-authored with Mr. Tirtharaj Barman and Dr. Swarandeep Sahoo.
Mr. Shashank Singh (Final year M.Sc.(Tech.) student) presented his masters’ thesis research work at the Indian Geophysical Union-2024 at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, India on December. His work, entitled “Impact of diffusivity ratios on the onset of thermo-chemical convection at the Earth’s core”, was co-authored with Mr. Tirtharaj Barman and Dr. Swarandeep Sahoo.
Ms. Anwesha Kodal (Final year M.Sc.(Tech.) student) presented her masters’ thesis research work at the EAGE Workshop on Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) at IIT Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India on February, 2025. Her work, entitled “3D Internal Lava Flow Architecture of Deccan Basalts with Implications for Carbon Storage”, was co-authored with Dr. Debasmita Datta, Dr. Shubhangi Kala, Prof. P.P. mandal, Dr. Pankaj Khanna.
Mr. Navneet Babu M (Final year M.Sc.(Tech.) student) presented his research work at the Strong Motion Earthquake (SME) national seminar 2025 at IIT(ISM) Dhanbad, Jharkahnd, India on March. His work, entitled “Risk Assessment and Fault Reactivation in Carbon Sequestration: A Geomechanical Study of the Calliance Storage Field, Western Australia”, was co-authored with Prof. Partha Pratim mandal.
Mr. Rohan Sharma (Int. M.Tech) has secured a PhD offer from the Stanford University, USA, and will be joining the Department of Geophysics this fall quarter. He has submitted his masters’ thesis entitled “Poststack Seismic Inversion using Physics Informed Neural Network” under the supervision of Prof. Partha Pratim Mandal and co-supervision of Prof. Stefan Bunz(UiT Norway) in Subsurface Resource Characterization Group (sRCg) under Department of Applied Geophysics, IIT(ISM) Dhanbad, Jharkhand, India.
Mr. Aditya Chowdhury (Int. M.Tech) has been offered a PhD position at University of Texas at Dallas, USA. He has submitted his masters’ thesis entitled “Seismological Signal Denoising using Stochastic Differential Equations” under the supervision of Prof. Mohit Agrawal in Observational Seismology Lab under Department of Applied Geophysics, IIT(ISM) Dhanbad, Jharkhand, India.
Mr. Rajkumar Mondal (M.Sc.(Tech.)) has secured a PhD offer from the University of Oklahoma, USA, and will be joining the School of Geosciences this upcoming fall. He has submitted his masters’ thesis entitled “Optimising Geological Site selection for underground Coal Gasification” under the supervision of Prof. Partha Pratim Mandal in Subsurface Resource Characterization Group (sRCg) under Department of Applied Geophysics, IIT(ISM) Dhanbad, Jharkhand, India.
