Catholic Lower Secondary school was founded in September 2007 and this is a state school. Being a Catholic school doesn’t mean that we have more religion lessons than other schools. We have two lessons a week like all state schools in Poland. Catholic means for us that we want to be professional , we want to do our best - teachers to teach and students to learn! Pastoral work is based on Christian values. We’ve just moved to a newly renovated building and there are computers, projectors, interactive boards and access to the internet in every classroom. Our school is situated not far from the city centre.
There are 364 pupils and 30 teachers in our school. At the age 13-15.
We teach all subjects; English is obligatory (we have some classes with the extant programme of English). Our students can choose the second foreign language (German, French and Spanish). There are many afternoon clubs and activities like: drama and theatre club, singing group, Art and sports activities. There are many innovative projects in our school e.g. regional History project – lessons in the museum, trips to Berlin; Science week. A lot of charity work and activities are undertaken at school and many students are involved.
We’ve done two international projects so far and we are very keen to develop new international links as a part of delivering the global dimension within the school curriculum. The project will help us to broaden our pupils’ knowledge and skills to work with students from other cultures.
Our success is relatively good level of education, exam results are over the average. Also, we work individually with both very talented students and those who have difficulties in learning which helps them to be better motivated to learn.
