CHRISTMAS 2017

THE PROJECT'S FIRST ACTIVITY : THE LUCKY DIP

(NOVEMBER -DECEMBER 2017)

From the end of November to December 2017, the students involved into the project have carried out all the activities concerning the organization of a charity lucky dip.

They involved teachers, parents, school mates and the staff, asking them to donate objects to organize the lucky dip. Then, they collected and selected the different items and , using their computer and accounting skills, they drafted a detailed inventory where they entered the objects. The inventory was translated into English as well and printed. Every item in the inventory was given a number and the students drafted a computer chart with all the numbers included in the list. Then they printed it in two copies and patiently cut the numbers in small paper squares. All the 189 collected items were packaged using creativity ,transparent foils, ribbons and little decorations. The students sticked the corresponding paper number of the inventory on the packed item . The second copy of the chart with the numbers was used to cut the paper numbers to put in the box from where people could take them out. The students also established the cost of every ticket ( 2,50 Euros). The event was promoted on the school website and in local newspapers. During the days immediately preeceding Christmas (19th-21st December), the students succeeded in selling an incredible quantity of things and collected 500 Euros. The money from the lucky dip have been given to charity. Students chose to donate it to the local Franciscan nuns who run the shelter house "Laura Leroux" for the assistance to children in needs or with family problems .

Christmas at 'Emil Isac' School, from Cluj-Napoca, Romania

This year Christmas was special in our school. Starting from November, students and teachers have been preparing for the first Christmas fare organised in our school. As part of our project, we wanted to make this event special, to involve as many students and teachers, as possible. Everybody was excited an everybody contributed to making our dreams happen. Small children sold their toys, they made handmade decorations, others learned carols and sketches. Older students prepared cookies, made face painting, sold tea and hot chocolate. For one day we succeeded to turn our school into a fairyland, where everybody smiled and felt good, despite the freezing cold. It felt really good being part of this special project!

Our students, under the guidance of the Art teacher Maria Antoniou, created Christmas ornaments made from dry leaves of magnolia and offered them at the bazaar of the Nephropathic Association (club of kidney patients), to reinforce the fund of the Association.

The beautiful creations exhibited and sold at the Christmas kiosk of the Larissa Nephropathic Association, at the Christmas Park of Wishes in Larissa, from 27 December 2017 until 1 January 2018.

CHRISTMAS FAIRS AT KATOLICKA SZKOLA PODSTAWOWA

On the 13th December 2017, Christmas Fairs took place in Catholic Primary School in Poznań.

There was a range of items for sale including wreaths, small Christmas trees made of pasta or paper, wooden Santa Clauses, reindeers and other Christmas decorations. People could buy also Christmas cards, candles and table cloths. There were stalls with a selection of tasty food like home made ginger bread and other cookies and warm drinks. All the items were made by our students, teachers and their families.

Our students, dressed up for a nativity play, were singing carols.

Christmas Markets and Fairs in our school not only gave our school community the opportunity to purchase unique items but it was also a great way to support those who were in need.
