Introduction of the Speaker
It is very proud moment for us to introduce the alumni of IIITDM, jabalpur Mr. Neeraj Soni, an industry professional whose work strongly reflects the principles of Industry 5.0—human-centric engineering, intelligent automation, and sustainable infrastructure.
Mr. Soni is a Mechanical Engineer from IIITDM Jabalpur with hands-on experience across power generation, industrial automation, infrastructure execution, and data-driven engineering systems. He currently serves at REC Limited, where he is the Nodal Officer for the State of Gujarat, responsible for implementing national-level power and energy schemes of the Ministry of Power, including the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and RDSS. His role directly supports AI-enabled monitoring, decision-support systems, and large-scale energy transition initiatives, which are core enablers of Industry 5.0.
Previously, at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Mr. Soni was involved in the construction and commissioning of supercritical and subcritical thermal power plants, gaining deep exposure to complex industrial systems, safety-critical operations, and performance optimization—areas where symbiotic AI can augment human expertise rather than replace it.
His industry experience also spans IoT-based automation for Indian Railways, environmental engineering with zero-liquid-discharge systems, and automotive structural analysis, highlighting his ability to work at the intersection of physical systems, digital intelligence, and human decision-making.
With a multidisciplinary background covering mechanical systems, power infrastructure, automation, robotics, and AI/ML applications, Mr. Neeraj Soni brings a practical, ground-level industry perspective on how Symbiotic AI can enhance productivity, sustainability, and human empowerment in Industry 5.0.
We are delighted to have him share his insights today on Applications of AI in Power Distribution.
