What its Dodgeball?

Is a team sport in which players in two teams tries to hit opponents by throwing balls,while avoiding being hit themselves.The objective is to eliminate the other team and be the last standing

HISTORY OF DODGEBALL

It was from Africa and it was a deadly game, the players use rocks and putrefied matter instead of rubber balls

Then the Dr James H. move this sport to England and change the rocks to leather balls and also plays on a open field with o restrictions. A player is only out of the game when he is knocked to the ground by the continuous hits of the ball.

In 1884 Philip Ferguson thinked that they can play on a set area with teams in either sides of the pitch. In 1905 they created the rules of this game also included players coming in after a catch, and being hit once and you were out.

With the colleges across America playing each other, it enabled the sport to spread. News of this emerging sport made its way back to England, and the American popularized rules became the norm.

How to Play

Is a simple,fast faced game,so it is very easy.

The game has plenty ways to play but the thing that all types share is:

-Eliminating the opposing team by hitting them with a ball.

-Avoid getting hit yourself.

-Each game only lasts 2 minutes.

Rules of Dodgeball

-Each team starts behind the back line on their respective sides.

-Once the referee whistles the start of the game, each team’s rushers will run to grab the three balls designated for their side.

Each team will go for the balls to their right.

-The rushers must clear the attack lines with their body, after retrieving their balls, before being able to throw towards the opposing team.

The Court of Dodgeball

The court is rectangular, mesauring 18x9 divided by a line to separate each team field, the court must be free of obstacles and with 2 attack lines and 1 center line

Characteristics of Dodgeball

Two teams of 6 players and 4 waiting on the bench
Substitutions must be made prior to the start of the game. No substitutions can be made during a game, except in cases of injury.
6 regulation size balls should be used: 4 Blockers and 2 Stingers
Ball layout goes as follows: Blocker, Stinger, Blocker, Blocker, Stinger, Blocker.
A regulation match consists of a predetermined odd number of games of a single game type. The number of games and/or the time allotted may be altered to best suit time and attendance.

There are no team time outs
A headshot occurs when a player is hit directly in the head by a high thrown ball.
Any thrower committing a headshot will be deemed "out."
There are several ways to put a ball into play following a Rush.
- A player carries the ball across the attack line.
- A player passes the ball to a teammate who is behind or carries it across the attack line.
A player rebounds the ball off the back wall of a closed court.
