Conflict Resolution


 

When you are having a disagreement or argument try the following strategies to conflict resolution:

 

 

Active Listening

Actually listen to understand them and show that you hear and care about what they have to say.

 

 

Empathy

Try to see it from their perspective and understand how they feel.

 

 

I Statements

I feel _________ when ___________, because ___________. What I need is ____________.

 

 

Compromise

You meet in the middle, with something you are both okay with, even if it was not your full first choice. 

 

 

Think of Possible Solutions

Brainstorm what you could do.

 

 

Weigh Pros and Cons

Think about the benefits and the drawbacks to the possible solutions.

 

 

Agree to Disagree

Sometimes it is not worth continuing to argue, especially when it is something small or an opinion. We sometimes need to just let things go.
