Azadari, or mourning, of our Ahl-ul-Bayt (as) and their companions, is a fundamental element of Shia Islam. From the prayer of Lady Fatima Zehra (sa), that there be a people who will mournher Children, to the structured Azadari established by Lady Zainab (sa) and Imam Zain-ul-Abideen (as), after the timeless tragedy of Karbala, Azadari plays a vital role in the course of a Shia Muslim’s life. Over centuries, various forms of Azadari have been instituted, by various cultures to honor this eternal tradition. The IEC Husaini School (IHS) organizes various opportunities through its overall curriculum, including an annual Student-Led Majlis, to exhibit the importance of Azadari to our students. To further instill the importance of Azadari in our students in a unique manner, IHS established the Azadari Art Exhibition in AY 2022-2023, which is in dedication to Lady Zainab (sa), as the one who established the enduring and ever growing institution of Azadari.
Students will have the opportunity to put their artistic talents on display through paintings, drawings, models, or other forms of art. All displays of art must follow Islamic guidelines, which will be noted in the upcoming guidelines.
The theme for the 2nd Lady Zainab (sa) Azadari Art Exhibition will be Lady Zainab (sa) herself, the person who this event is dedicated for.
Students should begin thinking of ideas for their art projects, and how they can relate them to "Lady Zainab (sa)". Suggestions and ideas will also be provided in the upcoming guidelines.
All participating students will be awarded with plaques, and should plan to participate in this dynamic and exciting event.
This event will be open to all, and all community members are encouraged to attend to view the students' artwork, support them, and also pay their condolences to Lady Fatima Zehra (sa) and her daughter Lady Zainab (sa)!

Students will develop their art work in connection to Jannat Al-Baqee. For this year, the Azadari Art Exhibition will be a collaborative event with the Baqee Organization.
