The Swedish students explained that…
during Advent, they watched TV shows that start on December 1st and finished on the 24th. They also did a candlestick calendar with 4 candles, which they light up every Sunday.
on December 13th they celebrated Santa Lucia, that is a tradition of magic and light in which a holy martyr from Sicily is remembered.
on 24th of December families met up with presents and smorgasbord, which is a buffet made from typical Swedish dishes.

We, the fourth-year ESO students of the Josep Maria Xandri School Institute, travelled to Sweden on an Erasmus trip, in a town, Borlänge, from May 5th to 10th. The objective of the travel is to see how they work at school.
This experience was made possible thanks to a European grant, but it's not easy to have this grant. The teachers worked a lot for months to meet all the requirements and submit the necessary documentation.
For us, this meant that we only had to pack our suitcases with the essentials of things. As we had been informed that it would be a cold week with possible showers. We left with great enthusiasm to live an unforgettable experience.
The trip started at 3:00 am on Sunday in Sant Pere de Torelló at the bus stop. We took the bus to go to the airport of Barcelona. The people in general were very nervous about the experience. We passed all the controls. The aeroplane left at 6:40 am. We stayed at the back of the aeroplane, and we could sleep and read.
We arrived in Stockholm at 10:30 am. We also passed the controls and had lunch at the airport because the aeroplane arrived early. We stayed at the airport for 2 hours. After lunch, we took the train to go to Borlänge
We were surprised by the trains because they were very luxurious, and the inside was very clean. We arrived in Borlänge at 14:10 pm.
When we arrived at the station, the Swedish families were there waiting. We went to school Kunskapsskolan with the Swedish families to spend the day. We were very surprised by what the school. We started to play typical games of Sweden and also typical games of Catalonia. The games of Catalonia we played were baldufa and el pistoler. The objective of these games was to get to know everyone and their names, and introduce ourselves. Finally, we stayed in the school until a certain hour. After this, we went to the houses of the families!
On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, we spent the days individually with the Swedish student. In the morning, we went to the school and followed the Swedish routine, the classes. We didn’t understand anything, but it was fun. We learned a lot about how they worked in the school and how they did the work. Every day in the afternoon at 16:00 o’clock, we stayed with the teachers and reflected about the things of school and also the different things of Sweden.
The classes finished at 15:00 o’clock, and for the rest of the afternoon, we spent time with the Swedish members, but we stayed alone. With the families, we visited different typical monuments and also did different activities. It was the best time to practice English and not be embarrassed.
Finally, on Thursday, we went with the whole group to visit a typical and beautiful village in Sweden, Långbryggan. We could do this because it was a holiday. We travelled by bus. First, we went to a village, and it was a very beautiful village in Sweden. We stayed in a tower to see the lakes and the forest. After this, we went to a famous forest that is called Styggforsen. We ate pancakes in a small restaurant, and finally, we walked around the forest and saw the river and different animals.
After travelling, we had dinner at the school, where we ate chocolate and more chocolate. We also played a Kahoot about all the members. We spent a great last day!
On Friday, we met in the station at 07:30 am to go to the airport in Stockholm. When we got to the airport, we passed all the controls, and the aeroplane left at 12:00 o’clock. We arrived in Barcelona at 15:30. We returned to Sant Pere de Torelló by bus and arrived at 18:30. We were tired.
The Monday after the trip, we did an assembly to talk about the trip experience. Everyone said that it was an amazing experience for different reasons, but the main reason was that we could practice more English, see how the school is in Sweden and also the students.
We were very happy with this experience. Thanks to the teachers and the school!
