My students have been learning about the brain and nervous system in health class. At the end of our unit and after multiple live lessons on Schooltube, they were each tasked with researching a different neurological condition, mental/emotional or physical.
My students have been learning about the brain and nervous system in health class. At the end of our unit and after multiple live lessons on Schooltube, they were each tasked with researching a different neurological condition, mental/emotional or physical.
The ten conditions assigned included Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Alzheimers Disease, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Anorexia Nervosa, ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and Congenital Insensitivity to Pain (CIPA).
After learning about the symptoms, challenges and obstacles of people living with these conditions, my students' had to invent a new technology, or propose a societal/school strategy, that would help improve the quality of life of a person afflicted with that condition.
