Fall 2022
This Fall we worked on greetings, all 5 vowel sounds, the letters D, T, B, and P along with numbers 1-20. We are doing sumas y restas (adding & subtracting) using los números 1-10. As a jumping off point, we incorporated episodes from the PBS series Salsa as a bridge to help students catch an ear for Spanish, using stories students are already familiar with in order to help all students feel comfortable hearing more and more Spanish in the classroom.
Students are able to greet one another in Spanish, write the letters C, T, B and P, trace the five vowels, and recognize syllables containing a combination of all the above.
Through immersive daily activities in the classroom, students are now more familiar with Spanish colors: rojo, azul, amarrillo, naranja, verde y morado (red, blue, yellow, orange, green and purple). We have become more familiar understanding common classroom demands as well as objects like silla, mesa, papel, lápiz, tijeras, and pega (chair, table, paper, pencil, scissors and glue.)
