My Child is Principled
Encourage your child to be a part of a team, be it an academic team, a sports team, or another type of team. Learning to work with others that are different than you is a skill that must be learned and practiced.
Ask your child:
What is a team player?
What is a sore loser?
How does someone win graciously?
What kind of person would you want on your team, and why?Â
When playing a game with your child, stick to the rules, which will show your child that you value the rules thus reinforcing that belief for him/her.
If at all possible, involve your child in the decision-making and rule-making process, and then encourage him/her to stick to those rules and decisions.
