The Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills are those skills that students need to develop to become effective, lifelong leaners. They empower students to succeed in meeting the objectives of each subject area.
These skills are explicitly taught in a developmentally appropriate way in all grade levels and students are challenged to build their ATL skills over time.
The Approaches to Learning are used throughout IB programmes. Explore the slides above for more information about how children grow in their thinking, research, social, communication, and self-management skills.
Try these activities at home to encourage and challenge your student's skills and see their IB knowledge in action!
