About the Author

Livia Bardin, M.S.W., is a clinical social worker who has been engaged with cult victims and their families for more than fifteen years.  She is particularly interested in the interface between high demand groups and  cults and mainstream society.  Her research in this area has been published in the Cultic Studies Review and the Journal of Public Child Welfare.  That research highlighted the difficulties for people who have left cults and other situations isolated from mainstream culture and who lack information they need to function comfortably in the “outside” world.  This book tries to help bridge that gap by providing both practical and general information to ease the transition.

Ms. Bardin is also the author of Coping With Cult Involvement; A Handbook for Families and Friends.
