On the left we see a series of numbers/images on a circular disc.
Depending on the number of times the numbers/image is placed around the circle, when spun at 33.3 RPM the numbers/image will appear differently.
Still (54)
Counter-clockwise (52)
Clockwise (56)
(see below)
the higher or lower the number, the faster your image will move in that direction
For easy spacing, here is a list of the width of the image necessary along the outside edge of an 8 inch circle....
50 - .5026 in (Counter-Clockwise Fast)
51 - .4927 in
52 - .4833 in
53 - .4742 in (Counter-Clockwise Slow)
54 - .4654 in (Still)
55 - .4569 in (Clockwise Slow)
56 - .4487 in
57 - .4409 in
58 - .4333 in (Clockwise Fast)
To Turn In:
I want the Illustrator file, however the images you have used are "links", we need to "embed" them into the Illustrator file.
Go to Window - Links
This brings up the Links window....You can see on the right of the image name a chain link...
On your keyboard hit Command+A to select everything in the image
Next click on the Menu (hamburger/three lines) in the upper right corner
Click on "Embed Image(s)"
The link should now be gone. Save your file and turn it in to Canvas
DIRECTIONS FOR PREVIEW: FINAL CUT PRO
Save your image.... Export As....PNG - 300 dpi
Open Final Cut Pro, yours will look a bit different if this is your first time opening the application

Find your exported png file
drag it to the timeline in Final Cut Pro
You will be presented with a popup that wants to know the properties for the video.
The only thing to change here is the Rate (Frames Per Second) from 60 to 30
By default FCP makes a still image 4 seconds long. But because we are working at 33.3 RPMs we know that in one minute the turntable will spin 33.3 times. So we will change the duration of the still image to 1 minute (1:00:00)
Select your image click "control D". You'll notice that your timecode turns blue and shows 04:00. Now type 1:00:00 then press "return"
Next we are going to make it spin. To do this we use Keyframes. To add a keyframe, click the transform button (1), then click the add keyframe button (2).
Scroll to the end of your timeline and press the "left arrow" so our timecode is at 59:29
Again, add a keyframe by pressing transform (1) and add keyframe (2)
To add our rotation, Click the Video Inspector (1), find rotation and change it from 0 to -11988. We get the number -11988 by multiplying 360x33.3
Scroll back to the beginning of your timeline and click the space bar to play and preview your Phenakistoscope!

next we need to make your image spin. There are 360 degrees in a circle and the record player will spin at 33.3 revolutions per minute (rpm)
