During these times due to recent events, we are all required to stay home and are not allowed to go outside much and meet with any friends or family. Because of this, we decided to create a Window View, or drawing or painting what we see in reality from the window or imagining what we would like to see if we were not at home. We had three options to choose from – paint or draw yourself looking out a window, a window and its interior with a nice view, or just the view itself without any window frames at all.
Throughout history, there were many artists who had devoted their time painting their view from home, for example:
Edward Hopper, Morning Sun, Small City, Cape Cod Morning, Room in Brooklyn
Henri Matisse, Open Window, Window at Tangier
Caspar David Friedrich, Woman at the Window
Salvador Dali, Woman at the Window
Gustave Caillebotte, Young Man at His Window
Edouard Manet, Balcony
Giacomo Balla, Window at Dusseldorf
Our artwork was inspired by those beautiful masterpieces. In our art projects, we used pencils, colored pencils, crayons, markers, oil pastels, watercolors, tempera paints, coloring paper, tissue paper, glue, scissors, and everything that will allow us to express in the best way. Techniques we used were: drawing, painting, watercolor, collage, illustration, and poster.
