Talking Chips

This strategy...

• Is used to increase accountability, along with total participation, during group talk.  Students turn in a chip when they contribute to the discussion at hand.

How to... 

• Students are given "chips" to use when contribution to the discussion, with statements or questions, has been made.

• Students can be given a set amount of chips and can give them away every time they contribute.

• The idea is to end up with zero chips.
