Nature Classroom Trip - 10th July 2025
On Wednesday, Dosbarth Onnen children embarked on a wonderful adventure to The Nature Classroom, an outdoor classroom nestled in the heart of a local forest, close to Talgarth. The day was filled with lots of fun, learning, and laughter.
After the exciting minibus ride up, The Nature Child team welcomed us warmly and guided us through a variety of hands-on activities designed to spark curiosity and develop key skills. The activities included:
- Rules of the Nature ClassroomÂ
- Fire circle rules and expectationsÂ
- Searching for toy wildlife animals in their habitats around the glade
- Going on an adventure following the golden arrows to find the Wild, Wise Women of the Woods, learning about what can be made from trees and finding magical treasure!
- Making daub to attach to wattle to build houses for the fairies, feeling and describing the daub to support us measuring and creating our own mixtures
- Sorting items that do and don’t belong to plants, matching leaves to trees and printing and creating our own tree art
This trip not only supported our curriculum areas, but it also gave the children a chance to build resilience, teamwork, and a real connection with nature.
It was wonderful to see the children so engaged, confident and independent as they worked together, solved problems, and used their imaginations in nature. In addition to noting, this has been our first full class trip outside of school. The children shone and made every adult and the YYMD staff incredibly proud!Â
A huge thank you to the Nature Child team, the YYMD staff and parent helpers for making this trip possible. It was a truly memorable experience – and we’re sure our little explorers will be talking about it for weeks to come and a fantastic way to end Summer term!Â
