School wins award for raising profile of Welsh language
Congratulations to Ysgol Y Mynydd Du on successfully achieving the Bronze Award for the Siarter Iaith – a national initiative to raise the profile of the Welsh language in schools. The Criw Cymraeg were delighted to accept their award on behalf of all the pupils and staff, who together, have worked extremely hard to promote the use of Welsh at every opportunity within the school setting. Ten targets were assessed, including the establishment of a positive Welsh ethos and the use of Welsh inside and outside the classroom. Everyone is enormously proud of what they have achieved during their journey leading up to this prestigious award and look forward to building on their language skills as they embark on the Silver Award. Head teacher, Sam Toone, would like to thank all those who made the project a great success.
