Within the Technology rotation, we have developed a curriculum based upon the descriptor of learning "Computation is the foundation for our digital world". This is to enable pupils the opportunity to develop their computational skills through working with networks, data and interfaces. Below is information about how you can support your child(ren) at home.
In year 7 we utilise the BBC Microbit to teach algorithms and coding. Promote the use of the BBC Microbit at home using the following link: https://microbit.org/get-started/getting-started/introduction/
In year 8 we teach Python. Python is a programming language that is widely used in web applications, software development, data science, and machine learning (ML). Developers use Python because it is efficient and easy to learn and can run on many different platforms. Find tutorials for Python here to help support at home: https://www.w3schools.com/python/
In year 9 we teach HTML. HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) is a text-based approach to describing how content contained within an HTML file is structured. This markup tells a web browser how to display text, images and other forms of multimedia on a webpage. Find tutorials here to help support at home: https://www.w3schools.com/html/
If you don't have access to technology at home or want your children to develop computational thinking without being in front of a screen, you can make use of the CS unplugged activities which don't need access to a device!
