Conjunctions

In Year 1, use the basic conjunctions because and but (orally).  Complete sentence stems (orally) beginning with the subordinating conjunctions After and Before.

From Year 2, use the basic conjunctions because and but in writing.  Add in If and When as sentence stems starters.

From Year 3, add in so.  Add in Even though, Whenever, and Although as sentence stems starters.  Complete a sentence beginning with an illustration transition that follows a statement, eg Dogs make good pets.  For example, _____________.  

From Year 4, add in Since.  Apply transitions: time sequence 1A, conclusion and illustration.

From Year 5, add in While and Unless as sentence stem starters.  Add transitions: time and sequence 1B, change of direction, and emphases.
