We want our curriculum to reflect our community and the children's lives as well as give them understanding beyond their own experiences. We want the children to have an active say in what they learn, how they learn and understand how they make progress.
Most importantly we want our curriculum to be fun, purposeful and for the children to love learning.
A MESSAGE FROM THE CHILDREN
As our curriculum will follow no set scheme, what the children learn will vary year on year whilst covering the curriculum range. Our curriculum will follow 3 layers:
LONG TERM
We will ensure the children have a broad and balanced experience based on the 4 Purposes and AoLEs, whilst including the wider skills outlined on this website.
MEDIUM TERM
We will teach the knowledge, skills and experiences through themes that are topical and relevant to the children. The children themselves will have an input into what they want to learn. This will vary from year to year.
SHORT TERM
What we teach on a weekly basis will depend on the children's understanding. We will not teach content to 'get through' but rather deepen and broaden understanding at the children's own pace. Again, pupil voice will play an important role here.
