So what will assessment and progression look like for your child?
Staff will constantly be assessing the children on an ongoing basis and this will be supported by selected summative assessments. What is important to know is: Where is my child now? What do they need to do to progress further? How can I support them to do that?
Importantly we want to focus on how your child is doing in all areas. Whilst Maths and Literacy are crucial, we want to get an holistic picture of progress.
From Nursery to Year 6 we will use the app SeeSaw as a way to communicate how your child is doing in school. Throughout the year, specific photos will be kept as 'Learner Journals' and these will focus directly on how your child is making progress.
From Year 4 to Year 6 the children will have much more involvement in the journal and keep their own record of work. At this age they can identify for themselves what and how they have progressed and how they can improve even further. This can be accessed via their Hwb account log in.
Of course, books, formative marking and ongoing observations will all provide us with the information we need to ascertain where your child is and how they can progress further.
