Three broad themes of ‘cynefin’, identity and culture and within these themes you will learn:
· about the value of the Welsh language socially and in the world of work
· about its use in Wales and around the world
· how to understand and use Cymraeg with others in a spontaneous and confident way
· how to develop skills for work and life
· how to respond creatively to literature
Summary of assessment:
Unit 1: Responding to a Visual stimulus (video)
Oracy response to visual stimulus
Non-examination assessment : 6 – 8 minutes (pair) 8 – 10 minutes (group of three)
25% of the qualification (15% listening + 10% speaking)
Unit 2: Responding to various sources
Communicating with other people
Non-examination assessment : 6 – 8 minutes (pair) 8 – 10 minutes (group of three)
25% of the qualification (20% speaking + 5% listening)
Unit 3: Reading and Writing – Preparing for the Future
Written examination: 1 hour 30 minutes
25% of the qualification (15% reading + 10% writing)
You will learn essential skills for the future such as translanguaging and translating
Unit 4: Reading and Writing – Literature and Creative
Written examination: 1 hour 30 minutes
25% of the qualification (15% writing + 10% reading)
You will study short stories and set poems
