Together the children created a bank of questions for the 5 main categories that they decided to research for about Merthyr in the 1940's. The categories included Entertainment, schools, transport, houses, clothing and fashion.

We had a great time stepping into the shoes of an evacuee during WW2. We imagined we travelled by train to a reception area (Merthyr Tydfil) where we paraded in a circle and were selected by our host families. We then learnt all about what food/rationing, jobs and what houses were like. We experienced the sound of an air raid siren and how we would make ourselves safe in the event of an air raid.
