Introduction
The course is open to all pupils. The will to study literature is essential as well as good oral and written communication skills. The students that study Welsh
are seen as language champions in the sixth form and the school.

Advanced Subsidiary (AS)
Year 12
Unit 1 (10%)
A study of the play, 'Siwan' and the film 'Hedd Wyn'
Oral Examination (approx. 1 hour)
Unit 2 (10%)
Written Coursework
Expressing Opinions
Creative Writing
Unit 3 (15%)
Poems of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
2 hour exam
Advanced Level (A2)
Year 13
Unit 4 (20%)
A study of the novel 'Martha, Jac a Sianco' and a synoptic assessment
Oral Examination
Unit 5 (20%)
Prose of the Middle Ages, the Hengerdd and the Cywyddau
2 hour exam
Unit 6 (20%)
Appreciate prose or poetry and synoptic assessment. Welsh in the Association.
2 hour exam

Entry Requirements
Although each student will be considered on an individual basis for entry onto the course it would be beneficial to have grades B or above in Language and Literature.
