Advance Subsidiary (AS)

Year 12


Chemistry Language The structure of matter and simple reactions.

Examination 1 hour 30 minutes


Energy, Rates and carbon compounds.

Examination 1 hour 30 minutes

Advanced Level (A2)

Year 13


Physical and inorganic chemistry.

Examination 1 hour 45 minutes


Organic chemistry and analysis.

Examination 1 hour 45 minutes


Practical task & Practical exam.

Practical 3 hours / exam 1 hour.


Career Prospects

Chemistry can be studied successfully with a number of other subjects and is accepted as a subject for a number of Universigy courses, including Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine and Physiotherapy. It is also valuable to support other courses, namely Geography and Physics.

Entry Requirements

Although individual consideration will be given to each learner, it would be beneficial if they had a B grade at GCSE Science and Additional Science in the Higher Tier paper.
