Welcome to Cwmbran High School Digital Competency and Learning website
Cwmbran High School has achieved the esteemed status of a CyberFirst Wales Bronze school, recognising our commitment to delivering high-quality computer science education and cybersecurity skills to our students. This prestigious award is granted by the UK's National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and is part of the CyberFirst initiative, which aims to inspire and equip the next generation of cyber professionals.
As a CyberFirst Wales Bronze school, as a school we have demonstrated the ability to provide students with a comprehensive and engaging computer science curriculum that includes essential cybersecurity skills. We have also developed strong partnerships with local businesses and organisations to provide students with valuable work experience and mentorship opportunities. This holistic approach not only prepares our students for the demands of the modern digital world but also fosters a culture of cybersecurity awareness and responsibility.
Furthermore, we have established a working partnership with the Intellectual Property Office (IPO), a leading authority on intellectual property law and policy in the UK. This partnership aims to provide students with a deeper understanding of the importance of intellectual property in today's digital age. Students will have the opportunity to learn about patent law, trademarks, and copyrights, as well as develop skills in creative problem-solving and critical thinking.
This partnership will enable us as a school to provide students with a unique and interdisciplinary learning experience that combines computer science, cybersecurity, and intellectual property law. By working closely with industry experts, our students will gain valuable insights into the real-world applications of these subjects and develop essential skills that will prepare them for future careers in these fields.
The school's achievement as a CyberFirst Wales Bronze school, combined with its partnership with the IPO, demonstrates its commitment to delivering innovative and relevant education that equips students for success in an increasingly complex and rapidly changing world.
CyberFirst Schools Wales is a program developed by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) in collaboration with the Welsh Government to inspire and develop the next generation of cyber security professionals. The program provides students with the opportunity to learn about cyber security through various resources and activities, including online modules, workshops, and competitions.
CyberFirst Schools Wales aims to raise awareness of cyber security among young people and equip them with the skills needed to pursue a career in the field. By engaging students in hands-on learning experiences and providing access to industry experts, the program helps to bridge the skills gap in the cyber security sector and prepare students for future careers in the industry.
Overall, CyberFirst Schools Wales plays a crucial role in promoting cyber security education and fostering a talented and diverse workforce to meet the growing demands of the digital economy.
