Our Beautiful Brain curriculum teaches pupils about different parts of the brain, what these parts are 'in control' of and how they play a part in how we can sometimes act in response to the world around us. Learning about this, helps us to learn how we can appropriately control our emotions.
Mrs Hill and Mrs Lewis designed four characters, representative of the Four Core Purposes, to help even the youngest of our pupils understand how the four characters help us to learn.

Limbic Larry is an ambitious and capable learner, he understands that he has the right to be the very best he can be. He works hard and perseveres to achieve his goals. Limbic Larry is very proud.
Breathing Brenda is an ethically informed citizen, she understands that her actions have an impact on others so it is very important to find out the facts before making any decisions.
Neocortex Noel is an enterprising, creative contributor, he understands that his beautiful brain helps him to solve lots of tricky problems and that it is the neocortex that helps us with perseverance to complete such tasks. He has lots of good ideas.
Survival Sam is an healthy and confident individual, he understands that his beautiful brain helps him make good choices to keep his mind and body healthy. Sam knows his opinion counts and this makes him become a confident and valued individual.
