Planning meetings with the digital lead
Overall digital lead and AoLE/Phase digital leader could look at plans and discuss opportunities for digital learning and the redifinition of some activities through using e.g. SAMR model to develop digital skills. Digital leads could refer to examples within each AoLE/Phase
Consider using the progression documents to set appropriate digital skill level.
Once you have decided on some digital activities, use the progression documents (see above) to ensure that digital skills are developed at the appropriate level. There is a general pattern across schools that digital learning progression is limited by the level of digital skills used by learners so this is an important part of the planning process.
Planning meetings with staff within AoLE/Phase
The digital leader within each AoLE/Phase could hold planning meetings with staff to discuss digital learning opportunities, consistency across the AoLE/Phase and pick up any training needs that are identified. Don't try and 'fit' digital skills in to your activities and think about developing skills that are relevant.
REMEMBER: Each AoLE/phase doesn't need to cover all the skills of the DCF!
These discussions could also include logistical planning:
Types of devices - chromebook, ipad, laptop
Software & app options - relevance to the task and progression step
Digital learning structure - small groups on rotation/whole class activity etc.
Map digital skills across the curriculum
The digital lead needs to ensure that there is some system in place to map the digital skills that are being used across the curriculum. For example, the DCF mapping spreadsheet could be used to identify stronger digital elements and also areas of the DCF that need developing. Along with the mapping of digital skills, digital leads should consider some sort of portfolio/example system to ensure that the level of digital skills are appropriate.
This website is currently under construction but will provide examples of how you can develop digital skills across the curriculum within different AoLE's and Progression Steps.
Consider learning design through redefining activities through the SAMR model.
What type of digital learning structures will maximise effectiveness?
Consider:
Structure of digital learning activities e.g. group work or whole class, independent or collaborative work.
Blended learning approaches e.g. a video explainer of the digital skills required available on MS Teams/Google Classroom before the lesson.
What digital devices are suitable for the activity?
Chromebooks, ipads or laptops??
Is the schools system for device loans efficient and does it maximise the use of devices?
