Transition into school
We have enjoyed starting our new school and exploring our new classroom and outside learning space. We are making new friends, taking turns and sharing resources. We are learning the school rules and what is expected of us when working in and around the school.

Family and friends
We have been looking at our families and our friends. We have explored characteristics of both and developed some lovely artwork showcasing this.

(Reception) Talk about members of their immediate family and community. Name and describe people who are familiar to them.
Zones of Regulation
We have worked on recognising our different feelings and why we might feel a certain way. We talked about how we can talk and work through these feelings once we have recognised them. We have a new chart in the class to help us to express how we are feeling. At any point in the day we can move our name depending on how we are feeling.

Kind Hands
In our Jigsaw session, we talked about kind hands using the story 'Hands are not for hitting'. We brainstormed all the different things our hands can do and the need to use our hands kindly.

We talked about our rights, this was a tricky concept to understand but we did begin to brainstorm what we have a right to do and have access to.

Module 2
Jigsaw - What I am good at?
We thought about what we are good at - some of us are good at drawing or writing or numbers or reading or running.... lots of different things. We understand that we can't be good at everything and that is what makes us unique! Some things are more difficult, but if we keep trying we can improve. Being good at different things make life interesting!
Jigsaw - What makes me special? I'm special, I'm me!
We thought about why we are special and what makes us special. We know that we are all different and that is what makes us unique. We make sure that we include everyone in our work and play.
Jigsaw - Families
We understand that the word 'family' means different things, this consolidates the learning we did last term about families. We are also part of the school family and we make sure that everyone is happy.
Jigsaw - Making friends.
We are secure in our friendships and are making further friendships outside of our EYFS classrooms. We talked about the types of words we need to use and ensure that we talk to each other with kindness.

Jigsaw - Challenges
In circle time we talked about what a challenge is, things that we find difficult and how that makes us feel. We then spoke about how we can overcome challenges.

Jigsaw - Never Giving Up
We thought about resilience and the fact that we need to keep on trying, even if something is difficult. We brainstormed as a class about the things we couldn't do but now can. We also thought about new things we want to learn how to do as we grow older.

As part of our work on challenges, we thought about what we want to be when we are grown ups. We talked about the different jobs there are and which we might want to be.

We have discussed what it means to be kind and how that looks. We all gave our friends some compliments and discussed how we could be kind to everybody, even if we do not know them.

Hansel and Gretel Stranger Danger
As part of our discussion around the moral of the Hansel and Gretel story being stranger danger, we discussed who safe adults might be if we ever found ourselves in a situation where we need to talk to a stranger.

Leeds Castle Visit
We went to Leeds Castle on a coach. We represented the school really well with our good behaviour and manners when meeting the castle staff.

Module 4
Jigsaw - Healthy me - We Like to Move it, Move it!
We have identified the changes to our bodies when we exercise in our PE lessons and when we are doing sports. We talked about the job our heart and why it beats faster when we exercise.

We used The Hungry Caterpillar story to think about the types of food that is healthy for our bodies. We sorted the different foods the Hungry Caterpillar ate into foods we need to eat plenty of and those we need to eat less of.

Mother and Other's Day
We talked about our mums and other people who are special to us and why they are special to us. We tried to list all of the different things our mothers and others do for us. We found out about the different ways people celebrate Mother's Day and made cards for our special people using observational drawings.

As part of our learning about keeping healthy, we talked about the importance of a good night sleep. We talked about our bedtime routines.

Jigsaw - Healthy Me! - Teeth Brushing
We continued our learning about keeping ourselves healthy by talking about our teeth brushing routines and the importance of brushing out teeth. We also know that it is important to visit the dentist regularly.
